Lee Blackwell, Partner & Licensed Home Inspector (NC, SC)

Edward “Lee” Blackwell was born in York, South Carolina to a social worker mother and a veteran father turned real estate investor in and around York county. And I am the proud father of a twelve year old daughter. While working with Edward Blackwell Sr. on homes in their community, Lee gained a respect and admiration for the care and maintenance of homes. Lee went on to spend 20+ years in the hospitality industry, earning years of experience working with the public. Eager to return to his roots, Lee attended The Home Inspection Training Center school in 2019, receiving high marks in all of his certification classes. Along with good friends Ben Crisler and Ken Harrington, they created State-Line Inspections, LLC. The day I became a Licensed Home Inspector was the best career move I ever made. It's a perfect fit for my detail-oriented personality. What I love most about being a home inspector is being in a different "office" every day and not only meeting new people but giving them the tools and information they need to comfortably make one of the biggest investment decisions of their lives. After owning a mold and radon mitigation company in Ohio for 10 years, I moved to North Carolina looking for a change and found it in home inspecting. I have worked with home inspectors for 20 years and am so glad to have finally made the leap full time into this field. Every day I get to learn something new, whether it is new eco-friendly building product or practice or a new building code in the industry. Regardless of the number of inspections I do, I am surprised almost daily by a DIY project gone bad or how over time the smallest thing like water penetration can truly destroy a home.
